A candidate can also prepare for their interview by practicing common interview questions, be ready to discuss your qualifications and experiences in detail, and feel free to prepare a few questions to ask the interview panel.

What is STAR LRP?

The Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program (STAR LRP) is a unique initiative that provides student loan repayment for individuals working in full-time substance use disorder (SUD) treatment jobs that involve direct patient care. This program is designed to make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by substance use disorders.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for STAR LRP, individuals must work in a full-time SUD treatment job involving direct patient care in one of the following settings:

  • High-Impact Communities: Specifically, STAR LRP supports professionals serving in a county or municipality where the average drug overdose death rate exceeds the most current national average overdose death rate per 100,000 people, as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
  • Mental Health Professional Shortage Areas (MHPSA): Additionally, STAR LRP is available for individuals working in Mental Health Professional Shortage Areas, where access to mental health and substance use disorder treatment is critically needed.

What is HRSA STAR LRP-approved?

Our organization and all our sites are HRSA STAR LRP-approved and participate in the Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program (STAR LRP) from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
