As the opioid epidemic continues to raze Delaware, local nonprofit Impact Life and its CEO and founder Domenica Personti have ramped up their efforts to save lives. The community outreach team helps provide harm reduction tools to the most vulnerable populations, creating bonds with community members and acting as pillars of support. By helping to keep people safe while they actively use drugs, Impact Life can then help people find treatment when they’re ready. They also operate sober living homes statewide.
In October, Impact Life opened the state’s first recovery farm. Located in Seaford, The Sanctuary serves pregnant women and mothers in need of residential substance use treatment. Working at the farm also will help prepare residents for transitioning back into the workforce, especially for those reentering society after incarceration.
